Making CannaButter with an extract from Merlin400

You will need:

  • ā— 1 gram of CBD extract from Merlin400
  • ā— a stick of butter or ghee (220 grams)
  • ā— a double boiler (a saucepan and a heat-resistant bowl)
  • ā— butter mold or a jar
  • ā— Merlin400

Note: The potency of your cannabutter will depend on the CBD concentration of your cannabis extract. One gram of concentrate can contain between 60%-90% of initial compounds and is typically used for every cup of butter.

Adjust the amount of concentrate used according to your desired potency.

Step 1. Decarboxylation

Remember to decarboxylate your extracts before cooking in order to activate the cannabinoids.

It is easy to decarb extracts in Merlin400. Place the oil glass on the heatbed and start Program 2. It will take around 30 minutes in total, so you can soon move to the next step.

Step 2. Melt the butter

A double boiler method is easy to work with and your product doesn’t get burnt. Simmer 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Place a glass or metal bowl on the top and put your butter in it (we didn’t have the bowl, so used a heat-resistant lab glass). Heat the butter until it melts.

Step 3. Add the extract

Take your concentrate and remove the glass beads from your glass. Put your concentrate into the heated butter or oil. If it’s too thick and sticky, use Program 3 to heat it up.

*In order to transfer the residuals, you can put a tablespoon of butter into an oil glass and mix it with the leftovers. If it’s hard to mix up, heat it up in Merlin400 using Program 3.

Step 4. Stir the mixture

Gently stir the mixture for a few minutes to make sure your extract is evenly mixed in warm butter. Your cannabutter is ready to use.

Step 5. Fill the molds and refrigerate

Put your butter in the silicone butter mold, jar, or any form that you prefer. Let it cool down to room temperature, and put it in the refrigerator or freezer.

The small ice cube molds will make it easier for you to cook edibles and calculate their potency.

Step 6. Your cannabutter is ready!

After 1-2 hours, when the butter is solid, you can separate it from the silicone molds. Your butter is ready to use!

Store your final product in an airtight container in the refrigerator according to the expiration date on the butter you used. Cannabutter will often last in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.

If you want to try something different in your recipes, go ahead and use cannabutter instead of regular butter. It works great as a substitute and adds a unique twist to your favorite dishes!
