Merlin400 contains a powerful computer running a full-fledged operating system like a PC. Using the app, you can upgrade the onboard software for new exciting features, improvements, and bug fixes. From time to time, if the software is released with an unfortunate error or if the upgrade fails, Merlin400 will be left in a state where neither the software nor the upgrade functionality works.
Fear not, because this is where you download this simple rescue tool on your computer to fix any error states. It is a Java-based program that runs on both Windows, Mac, and Linux

1: Get Merlin400 online
Make sure that Merlin400 is online. If you need help with this, follow the first half of this video. Please note that if your machine’s software is severely damaged, you might not see the lights blinking like on a functional device. The rescue tool will still work as long as Merlin’s onboard computer is operating.
Your computer must be on the same network as the Merlin400. You can connect to the same WiFi if you have a home router. A cabled connection to a WiFi router with Merlin400 connected will also work.
2: Make sure you have Java installed
You need to install java 8 or later on your computer to run it. If you do not already have Java installed, follow the links below:

Linux (debian distros): run the following in a terminal “sudo apt install openjdk-11-jdk”
3: Download the rescue tool
Download the tool here: drizzle.life/software/drizzle-restore-1.0.jar
4: Run the tool
Double click on the downloaded .jar file. If you have java installed correctly it will run.
Click “Search devices” and wait. It will take between 10 and 60 seconds to locate any Merlin machines on your network. Please be patient.
Once you see your Merlin400 in the list (if you have several Merlin’s you will see multiple ones in the list), select it and click “Restore”
Please enter the password as stated on your Merlins sticker. Below we have entered a password from one of our machines. Press ok.
Restore will start! The process will take anywhere from 2 minutes to 45 minutes. Please be patient and do not switch off your computer or Merlin while this is running.
Once you see a popup with “Restoring complete,” your Merlin400 has been brought to life. Please wait a few minutes, shut down the java application, and unplug your Merlin400. Please wait 30 seconds before you plug it back in.
Congratulations, your Merlin400 is now in tip top shape again!
